The students at St. Patrick’s School in Newry collected 500 boxes of cereal for the Assumption Chapel Pantry in Altoona. Way to go kids!
When the yearly summer feeding program at Evergreen Manors was cut due to the lack of funding, the Society’s Youth Ministry decided to become the main sponsor and continue the program. Along with the Assumption Chapel Food Pantry and the Altoona Soup Kitchen, hundreds of meals were served to school age children all summer long.
The annual program was again a success providing over 100 backpacks filled with brand new school supplies. The supplies were purchased through funds raised by youth activities and fundraisers held during the year.
The Pantry Kidz, made up of grandchildren of past and present volunteers as well as community groups such as the Women’s Basketball Team at SFU give of their time and hard work at the SVDP Assumption Food Pantry in Altoona.
