The Blair County Chamber of Commerce describes The ATHENA Award as a “program that celebrates the potential of all women as valued members and leaders of the community and recognizes those who support them. The ATHENA Award honors individuals who strive toward the highest levels of professional accomplishment … women and men who excel in their chosen field, have devoted time and energy to their community in a meaningful way, and who also open paths so that others may follow.”

During the chamber’s annual gala, numerous individuals and businesses were recognized for their leadership and contributions to the community. The highlight of the night was the Athena Award, a national honor given to someone who has shown strength and wisdom in helping others. The award was given to DelGrosso, who has helped residents struggling to meet basic needs through the St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank. by Jon Draeger, WTAJ

“It’s an honor and truly an honor,” DelGrosso said. “I’ve been very fortunate for 35 years. There’s hundreds of people that should be sharing this award with you because they’re a part of supporting us. They never get the honor.”
